FRANKLIN — Over the weekend, motorcyclists from across the country gathered for food, fellowship and, of course, a chance to ride. But they weren't at Sturgis.
Dozens of motorcycles dotted the campsite at the Franklin County Fairgrounds Friday through Sunday. For 30 years, the BMW Nightrider Club has been meeting in Franklin for their annual Huskerrally. Kathy Siemon, 55, has attended 28 of the rallies with her son.
"My son, Craig, has been coming ever since he was 3 months old," the Grand Island resident said. "The first year he came in a car, and ever since he's been coming in the sidecar. And he's 27, but this is his 28th Huskerrally."
The rally in Franklin was started by the Beach family, who attended numerous national BMW rallies. Siemon said she heard about it at a rally in Missoula, Mont.
