Kool-Aid smiles the norm

Days Saturday in downtown Hastings.

True to its slogan, Kool-Aid Days was still rockin' Hastings well into the night Saturday and all day Sunday.

With mild temperatures peaking in the low to mid-80s both days, visitors lined up in droves at the Largest Kool-Aid Stand in the world, Hastings Museum and Lake Hastings to quench their collective thirst in what board member Jody Jacobi described as yet another triumphant day for the 15th annual festival.

"The weather was awesome," Jacobi said. "That really contributed to how successful everything was, especially on Saturday.

"A lot of times by 2 p.m. Saturday the Kool-Aid Stand kind of dies down, but we found that even at 3:30 people were still coming and buying mugs, and the stand was closing at 4 p.m. We had lines at the Kool-Aid Stand and at the games all day."
