New role not easy decision for Hastings doctor

There are days when Hastings Dr. Michael Skoch wonders if he made the right choice by saying yes to the Chief Medical Officer position at Mary Lanning HealthCare.

Skoch, 54, will have limited contact with patients in his new role, working more closely instead with fellow doctors and staff in an administrative role to manage patient care and safety. And while he welcomes the challenge of helping the hospital improve the effectiveness of care it provides, he is more than a little saddened by the prospect of having to say good-bye to his patients at Moscati Health Center, many whom have been under his care since he founded the practice in 2000.

"My hope is if I can have an impact at a level that potentially influences care delivery to a greater number of patients in a favorable way, I want to be part of that," Skoch said.
