Harvard football field not ready

The Harvard football team was forced to move their first
two home games this season due to patches of sand still
present from renovations made to the field that started
in April.
HARVARD — When the Harvard Cardinals football team kicks off its football season tonight it will not be here as scheduled, but rather in Sumner.

In an attempt to improve the quality of its field and also make the field softer and safer, Harvard school officials decided in April to aerate it, plant grass seed, add sand and install a $13,000 underground sprinkler system.

"Especially right in the middle, toward the end of the season, because it gets played on all the time, it wore into more of a hard, dirt lot is what I'd call it," second-year head coach Sam Boshart said. "You couldn't really get a good footing and cutting was hard. You'd feel that hitting the ground about every single time."
