It's about that time of year where every football fan starts looking forward to the upcoming season. Projecting depth charts, analyzing schedules and competitive banter amongst fans ensues in preparation of the season.
The same is true for prep football, which opened practice this morning. Girls golf, boys tennis and softball also are eligible by the Nebraska School Activities Association rules to begin practicing today, while the other fall sports — cross country and volleyball — begin practice next week. Adams Central coach Bill Carlin said it's a new season and every team starts with a clean slate.
"The nice thing about school and our season is, whether you had a great year or a bad year, you start over," Carlin said. "There's a new starting point and you have to build from what you have and build a new group and get them to work together.
"It's always exciting to see them come together and develop characteristics and make their own mark for this team. I thought last year's team had a characteristic that they never gave up. We were down in two or three games by 10 points or more and still came back to win. They were a group that just never quit, so I'm excited to see what this group comes up with for their characteristic."
