MINDEN — One person was killed near here early Wednesday morning in a one-vehicle rollover, the Kearney County Sheriff's Office reported.
The victim's name had not yet been released as of this morning, pending notification of next of kin.
The Sheriff's Office reported the wreck in a news release.
At 5:32 a.m. Wednesday, authorities were called to the scene of the rollover and a ditch fire on 25 Road about one mile south of the junction of U.S. Highway 6/34 and Nebraska Highway 44 North. That location is near the KAAPA Ethanol Fuels plant seven miles west of Minden.
The driver had been southbound on 25 Road in a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer when the vehicle drove off the left side of the road, entered the ditch and rolled. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The wreck remains under investigation. The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Minden Police Department, Axtell fire Department, Nebraska State Patrol and Kearney County Roads Department.
