Police hope drug sting curbs use

Police are hoping this week's drug bust with 11 arrests deters drug activity in the city.

Hastings Police Capt. Adam Story said that the number of arrests will make an impact. After a large bust like this, police usually notice a short-term drop in drug activity.

While each of the 11 defendants isn't directly connected, each was a case investigated by Hastings police detective Brian Hessler.

Hessler said some of the suspects were associated with one another but others were only remotely connected

"It seems like the drug community is intertwined," he said. "Everybody is connected on some level."
