When a baseball team is in a slump, it seems there is nothing the team can do to get out of it.
On the other hand, when a team is on a winning streak, the ball takes favorable bounces, bloop hits start to fall and the team can do no wrong.
That’s what Tuesday’s game was like for the Hastings Johnson Imperial Homes junior legion baseball team.
JIH won its seventh consecutive game Tuesday in a 6-4 victory over Lincoln Northeast. After a shaky start, where walks became an issue, the pitching for JIH (17-20) settled down and allowed only one run in the final seven innings of the scheduled nine-inning affair. Hastings coach Russ Kindig said the game was typical for how his team has been playing as of late.
