The Hastings Honda Rockies celebrate their win over the
Children and Adolescent Clinic Braves following the B
League Championship Game Tuesday night at Duncan Field.

What looked to be a blowout early on in the Hastings Baseball B League championship game slowly turned into a classic.

The Hastings Honda Rockies developed a comfortable 8-0 lead and were cruising. But the Children and Adolescent Clinic Braves would not go quietly, forcing the Rockies to hold on for a 9-7 win Tuesday night at Duncan Field.

“That’s B League — you never what’s going to happen,” Rockies head coach Brett Mackey said. “You just have to go with the punches and the kids played hard and came through it.”

The Braves had very little going their way to start the game, as Rockies starter Brayden Mackey fanned nine batters and gave up no hits in his three innings of work before he left due to the B League pitch count.
