DONIPHAN — The common notion in baseball is that good pitching trumps good hitting.
The Hebron junior legion baseball team must not have heard that.
Hebron defeated Davenport/Edgar 10-4 in the Class C, Area 5 juniors championship game Tuesday to advance to the state tournament. Hebron pounded 18 hits and scored five runs in the final three innings, leading to the victory.
“Well, I think the boys hit the ball extremely well,” Hebron coach Mark Hintz said. “They hit the gaps. You can call them seeing-eye singles or whatever you want to call them, but they put the bat on the ball and made them make plays.”
