Reward offered for pelican shooting information
JEWELL COUNTY, Kan. — The Humane Society of the United States and The Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons responsible for shooting and killing seven American white pelicans at Lovewell Reservoir here.

Sutton man dies in rollover crash
SUTTON — A rural Sutton man died near here Monday morning when the car he was driving ran off U.S. Highway 6 and rolled in a ravine, Clay County Sheriff Jeff Franklin reported.
Blake A. Smith, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene of the one-vehicle crash three miles west of Sutton, Franklin said. The crash apparently had occurred within minutes of the emergency call recorded by the Clay County 911 Dispatch Center at 6:35 a.m.
