Man run over by combine near Geneva
GENEVA — A Grand Island man died here Tuesday after being run over by a combine in an area harvest field, the Fillmore County Sheriff's Office reported.
James Gabel, 58, was an employee of Allied Genetics in Grand Island. He was measuring a test plot of corn when the combine ran over him while backing up, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
Gabel was working on the Elaine Kimbrough farm in a field one mile west and 4.5 miles south of Geneva. The emergency call came in to authorities at 9:20 a.m.
Gabel was taken by ambulance to the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, where he died.
