Grant gives MLC project early start

Even though renovations haven’t been completed at the new Maryland Living Center, services have started for homeless youth in the community.

A five-year grant from the Family Youth Services Bureau has allowed CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of South Central Nebraska to start offering assistance to youth who are having trouble finding housing.

“It is amazing,” said RuAnn Root, executive director of CASA. “Not just for us, but for the kids it’s going to serve.”
