Zombies walk along 3rd Street Friday during
Hastings Downtown Association's inaugeral
zombie walk.
Zombies invaded downtown Hastings Friday night.
The zombies of all ages were Husker fans, football players, nuns, women in bathrobes, children in Halloween costumes and even fictional characters Mario and Luigi.
The Zombie Walk, sponsored by the Hastings Downtown Center Association, drew more than 100 people including families with small children, teens and college students and many adults.
“I was going to be happy if we had 20-30 people,” said Jessi Hoeft, the association’s director.
“This is an amazing turnout,” she said. “And the costumes are amazing.”
Zombie walks have become popular events in communities across the country, most stemming from the popularity of the AMC television show “The Walking Dead.”
