Enrollment down at HC
Concern over student debt is one of the reasons Hastings College has seen a 6.7 percent drop in enrollment this year, president Dennis Trotter said.
Preliminary figures show 1,069 students are enrolled this semester, compared to 1,146 last year. Enrollment numbers aren't official until Sept. 24.
A national and well-publicized scare over the student loan bubble has kept some students from borrowing for college.
"There's always been a steady drum beat on the amount of debt students take on and whether students can justify the investment in higher education," Trotter said.
