Kids learn the ropes

Wearing spurs and leather chaps over his blue jeans, Bob Rust looked every part the cowboy.

The Blue Hill man spoke about bull riding to 504 area fourth-graders participating in the annual Oregon Trail Rodeo Kids' Day Friday at the Adams County Fairgrounds. The students came from 16 schools representing Adams, Clay and Hall counties.

Attempting to stay on such an animal for eight seconds is like no other experience on Earth, Rust said.

"It's just an adrenaline rush," he said. "The power of that animal you can't control, it's like riding a tornado."
