BLUE HILL — Blue Hill wept.
A little more than 24 hours after the fatal collision that killed two adults and two children, the community was struggling to cope with its grief.
Scores of community members came together Thursday night for a memorial service at Blue Hill United Methodist Church. They shared thoughts and prayers as well as memories of the children who died.
Attendees filled the worship area of the church and spilled out into the fellowship hall. Nary a seat was empty and a few people stood in the back. Dim lighting and a somber mood filled the church as attendees shared prayers and memories.
The Revs. Steve Marsh of Blue Hill United Methodist Church and Don McMillan of St. Paul Lutheran joined forces to guide the audience in prayers, songs and a candlelight vigil.
“I want to thank you all for coming to show your support for those who were killed or injured,” Marsh said.
Students Dustin Tesdahl and Caroline Thallman, bus driver Marla Wentworth, and semitrailer truck driver Travis Witte died in the collision Wednesday. Five other Blue Hill students were injured and taken to various hospitals.
