61st Melody Round-Up pleases young, old

parade Saturday morning in downtown Hastings.
Free candy, hot dogs and root beer floats made the 61st annual Melody Round-Up Parade in downtown Hastings an especially appealing choice for young and old alike.
Thousands of people lined the streets of Hastings on a sunny autumn-like morning to see and hear marching bands do their thing, nestled between a lineup that included a nice selection of classic cars, floats and special guests. The parade was among numerous events surrounding the celebration of the college’s 130th anniversary. Other activities included a barbecue, inflatable games, a men’s soccer game and football game.
Kool-Aid Man was among the crowd favorites at the parade.
“I saw him! I saw Kool-Aid Man,” one young boy exclaimed to his mother. “And I got a piece of candy!”
