Adams Central knew heading into its season opener at home Friday night that Cozad was a tough squad with a dangerous running back.
That didn't seem to worry the Patriot defense.
The Patriots swarmed over Cozad junior Jake Paulsen all night, limiting the speedster to 83 yards on 21 carries, on the way to posting a 17-0 win.
"We gave up some yards, but when it came down to it, we didn't break," said senior linebacker Jesse Ackerman. "I thought it was pretty impressive."
