LAWRENCE — Sandy Creek won both of its games at the Lawrence-Nelson volleyball triangular Thursday, but it’s not a cause for celebration.
Head coach Angie Morris felt that the Cougars weren’t as amped up as they needed to be for their games against Silver Lake and the host Raiders.
Class C-1 No. 9 Sandy Creek (11-2) survived for a 25-21, 19-25, 25-11 win over the Class D-1 Mustangs (7-3) before sweeping Class D-2 Lawrence-Nelson 25-20, 25-14.
“I just don’t think we were focused and ready to play,” Morris said. “We have to play our tempo every game. We didn’t play with the intensity that we have to play with, and we didn’t execute our game plan. We had girls who were not focused and ready to play.
(Lawrence-Nelson and Silver Lake) played great. They were very scrappy and both play defense. We didn’t play with that intensity. I mean, we won, but that wasn’t our best performance.”
