Tigers fall to Gering 16-13

Hastings High's Tyler Ripperger runs against Gering Friday.

Gering football coach Jimmie Rhodes knows James Guzman is an electrifying player.

The Bulldog senior certainly proved it Friday night, as he returned a punt 55 yards for a touchdown in the second half and also had a big kickoff return that led to another score in the Bulldogs' much-needed 16-13 win over Hastings at Memorial Stadium in Gering.

The 5-8, 175-pound Guzman also made several big plays defensively, and he rushed for 87 yards on 14 carries, helping Gering end a two-game losing skid.
